Alfa Romeo MiTo Officially the “Gay Car of the Year 2009” in EuropeSTORY HIGHLIGHTS: MiTo named "Gay Car of the Year 2009" in Europe Volkswagen comes second with 71 points Fiat 500 "won the title" in 2008 with 122 points

Even though talking about this subject probably makes you feel uncomfortable, Alfa Romeo MiTo has been officially named the “Gay Car of the Year” 2009 in Europe by Ledorga, a French group that “organizes annually a major meeting for gay vintage car enthusiasts from all over Europe,” as stated on the official website. Alfa Romeo MiTo gained the first place with 82 points while Volkswagen Scirocco came second with 71 points. Lancia Delta was ranked third with 60 points, followed by BMW 1 Series Cabriolet with 45 points.
“In the age of globalization however, the refreshing Italian design has proved felicitous. Italian car design is still held in high regard by automotive enthusiasts and this Mito has plenty of Latin charm,” Ledorga said about the Alfa Romeo MiTo.
The “less-gay” cars are Renault Grand Modus, Subaru Forester, Renault Kangoo, Skoda Fabia Combi, Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback, Mazda 6 wagon, Infiniti G37, Infiniti FX and Hyundai i30 CW, each of them with 0 points. MINI Clubman, a potential competitor for Alfa Romeo MiTo, sits on the 10th position with 29 points.
Previous years' winners are Fiat 500 with 122 points (2008), Alfa Romeo Spider with 87 points (2007), Aston Martin DB9 Volante with 143 points (2006) and Mini convertible with 90 points (2005).
Despite the fact that Alfa Romeo MiTo's title “Gay Car of the Year” sounds a bit awkward, the newly-launched car is not even close to being a gay model and the aforementioned award is only voted by gay people (at least, this is what Ledorga says). So, in case you had any doubts, driving a MiTo is 100% heterosexual...
