This is best used when comparing two tires of the same brand
The alternative tire should be used on the same vehicle, driven by the same driver and under the same driving conditions for a valid comparison.
This calculation is mostly used to determine the life or service you could expect when changing from a tire of Treadwear XXX to a tire of Treadwear YYY.
Instead of mileage, you can use the number of months, or days to see how long it will be before you'd likely have to replace the alternative tire you're considering.

Mileage of Original tire:	enter in the mileage or lifespan of your original tire
TreadWear Rating of Original Tire:	enter in the treadwear from your first tire
TreadWear Rating of Alternative Tire:	enter in the treadwear of the other tire you're considering

Equivalent Expected Service:

As long as the two tires being compared are from the same manufacturer, and will be used in the same manner -- that is by the same driver's in the same conditions -- the results should give you a fairly good idea of the service you can expect.
Because of the self-testing by manufacturers, you cannot be sure these comparisons will hold if the two tires are made by different companies.
